DetailsYour skin is your body's largest organ. The epidermis, or surface layer of the skin is your interface with the outside world. The skin's primary role is the monumental task of protecting you from environmental stressors such as UV sun rays, harmful chemicals and infectious organisms. It is also a front-line tissue for sensation, nutrient synthesis and storage, waste removal and temperature control. Maintaining healthy skin means strong protection and efficient function, but it also means a radiant, youthful appearance. There is much more to your skin than meets the eye. The dermis, the second layer, is the skin's supporting tissue. The dermis contains your skin's structural components - collagen, elastin fibres, blood vessels, nerve endings, hair follicles and the moisture-retaining elements that keep the skin supple and wrinkle free. It is here that the first signs of ageing begin. So it is here, in the dermis of the skin, that true age defying beauty must also begin.
