As a a nurse, my patients feel very comfortable to wear this catheter. It has a hydrogel coating that is capable of absorbing up to 80% of fluid. Thus, it acts as a "cushion" between the catheter surface as well as the urethra. This "cushion" is effective in reducing irritation of the mucosa, and lessens encrustation. It has two opposing faces.
