Relieve heel pain and put a little pep into every step by wearing supportive heel cup shoe inserts. Traditional insoles or orthotics like the Pinnacle Orthotic Insoles by Powerstep run the entire length of the foot. Alternatively, heel pads provide cushioned, localized support at the heel. Heel cushions, often constructed with soft silicone, absorb shock with every heel strike. Studies have shown that each heel strike produces a force that can be equal to three to four times a person’s body weight — for a 150-pound runner, that can equal about 600 pounds of pressure. For this reason, protecting the heel from this kind of force is an important part of foot health. The silicone material of these heel cushions conforms to the foot to be a comfortable addition to athletic shoes, boots, and dress shoes.
