The needleless extension term describes its function as it extends IV therapy without using a needle while creating greater distance between the patient and the administered medication for continuous or intermittent infusions. There are many IV extension set options available to meet the medication flow rate and offer multiple injection sites if needed. The tubing or bore type and the tubing length determine the flow rate using the retractable clamp. Choose from microbore, standard bore, and macrobore tubing size with a variety of tube lengths. Other options include an IV extension set with injection port or a pre-pierced Y-site creating another pathway for additional medications or fluids during the primary administration.
