Introduced in the early 1980s, the first generation of Pulse Oximeters were manufactured with the emphasis on hardware and software algorithms which read and deciphered the signals sent by the sensors. During these early stages, the sensors were calibrated within the monitor, this prevented them from evolving into devices that could address unique patient care. Eventually, with advancements in semiconductor technology, sensor calibration has now led to a programmed digital memory chip contained within the sensor. This memory chip can hold large amounts of data which stores limitless calibration curves, resulting in a more accurate measurement of oxygen saturation and pulse readings.
The OxiMax Finger Oximeter demonstrates the latest innovations in oxygen saturation and pulse oximetry monitoring. This new technology leaves behind the need to continuously upgrade the monitor, because the calibration curve is in the sensor and not in the monitor. This reusable sensor has a finger-clip design for added comfort. It is also ideal for spot-check measurements, or for short-term monitoring that is four hours or less.
