Description

Medline Hemo-Force SQ is a DVT Pump used for sequential compression therapy. It utilizes segmented garment sleeves with a pneumatic sequential compression therapy to mimic walking to minimize the risk of deep venous thrombosis. Sequential compression creates a wave of compression, beginning at the bottom or distal end of the garment and ending at the top or proximal end. This process helps blood to circulate and to move up from the lower limbs to the torso. Sequential compression therapy prescribed by a doctor helps patients at risk of life-threatening blot clots. Sequential therapy may begin pre- or post-surgery, or both.

The major advantage of this compression therapy system is Sequential Therapy. Intermittent therapy only offers uniform pressure that undergoes inflation and deflation cycles in a single chamber or non-segmented leg garment. Sequential compression offers cyclical uniform pressure but through segmented garments with multiple air chambers. The air chambers begin filling from the distal end of the leg garment. When the most distal chamber fills with the prescribed amount of pressure, the next chamber going up the leg then begins to fill with pressure. This procedure continues up to the proximal end of the leg until all chambers fill and are held at pressure for several seconds and then deflated. This cyclical compression in succession up the leg provides a "milking" type of therapy to force blood to circulate back up the leg towards the torso to prevent blood from pooling in the lower extremeties. This advanced therapy modality offers many patients better outcomes. The graphic below displays a comparison between the two compression therapies.

Hemo-Force sequential pump is available as a new and improved 2nd generation pump. This DVT compression pump works with 3-bladder sleeves (available separately) to create a wave of compression for the foot, calf, or thigh. Both are suitable for DVT prevention in acute care environments, including pre-, intra-, and post-surgery phases. Both offer mono-therapy or, when combined with anticoagulation therapy, provides a mixture of treatments to stave the onset of deep vein thrombosis.

Hemo-Force Sequential DVT Pump has some exceptional features for your consideration. The design is 25% smaller than the 1st generation model, making it more portable and easier to handle. It comes with an integrated handle to make it easy to carry from room-to-room. This model can accommodate a combination of garments—one foot and one calf sleeve; two foot sleeves; one calf sleeve and one thigh sleeve; etc. These multiple combinations make therapy simpler to administer. This pump also auto detects the number of garments and the type of sleeve attached to the pump, thereby requiring no programming by the user or caregiver.

These DVT Pumps utilize a pneumatic sequential pattern of compression therapy to mimic walking to minimize the risk of deep venous thrombosis. This therapy has been clinically proven to help prevent DVT. This device requires as prescription from a licensed physician.

This Hemo-Force Deep Vein Thrombosis Pump offers single or dual limb therapy based on the patient's needs. Choose from two lengths of Anti-Kink Tubing to connect to the pump and sleeve. The Hemo-Force Sequential is compatible with its Triple-Bladder Sleeves for the foot, calf, and thigh sleeves. The wave-like compression is due to the three bladders that inflate within a sequence of 12 seconds, four seconds per bladder. Make sure to purchase the correct sleeve size for your leg and foot size. The garment should fit snugly, but not tight. The sizes refer to circumference measurement around the limb. For added convenience in a hospital or clinic setting, Medline provides sleeve options with a color-coded trim for ease of selecting the size needed.

Setting up the Hemo-Force Sequential DVT Pump (Medline MDS600SQ) is easy. The tubing connects to the sleeves and the pump outlet. White snap-lock connectors on the tubing ends make a click sound to ensure a secure and quick link between sleeves, air tubing, and pump. The pump has timer settings. It will give audible alarms to notify a caregiver if the compression pressure dips. The unit comes with a troubleshooting guide for quick reference.

Patients should wear Anti-Embolism Stockings when not undergoing pneumatic compression therapy to continue to support blood circulation in the legs. Medline offers a variety of sleeve length options.
