The 3M 1837 is designed to be a complete kit that secures the catheter while providing antimicrobial protection and visibility of the catheter site. These securement dressings are available in two different sizes. The 3.5 x 4.5 inch Tegaderm PICC CVC is used for both peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC's) and central venous catheters (CVC's). One of the greatest benefits of using this method of securement is the elimination of needlestick injuries in a care setting. It also has a waterproof film coating to keep contaminants out, including liquids, bacteria, and viruses.
