The Sorbalgon Ag Dressing is a sterile, non-adhesive calcium alginate dressing that forms a gel to absorb wound exudate and releases silver ions as an antibacterial agent within the dressing.
It is commonly used by healthcare professionals managing exuding wounds where a silver alginate is clinically indicated. This is not a complete dressing system, nor is it primarily intended for dry wounds.
Sorbalgon Ag is not a bordered or adhesive dressing. A non-occlusive secondary dressing is required for fixation and additional fluid management.
The dressing is designed to hold together when wet or dry for intact removal. If it appears dry during removal, the manufacturer directs moistening it with sterile saline.
Choose a flat pad for surface coverage or the ribbon for an appropriate cavity, then match the configuration to wound dimensions and clinical instructions. Cover and secure Sorbalgon Ag with a non-occlusive secondary dressing that can handle the wound’s drainage.
The dressing is available in 2 x 2, 4 x 4, 4 x 5, and 6 x 6-inch flat pads, plus a 1 x 12-inch ribbon. Flat dressings may be cut if needed to match wound coverage. Ribbon formats address different wound shapes.
