Details

Acticoat 7 Day Antimicrobial Dressing is a medical wound dressing that utilizes advanced silver technology to create an effective barrier to bacterial penetration for providing an optimal, contamination-free wound-healing environment. The Acticoat 7 features a rayon / polyester blend core that helps to manage moisture levels while controlling silver ion release via a silver-coated high-density polyethylene mesh. The fast-acting, pure-silver nanocrystalline coating delivers antimicrobial barrier protection within 30 minutes, much faster than other forms of silver.

Acticoat 7 Day Antimicrobial Dressing can be cut to the desired shape or size to wrap around any body part, making it versatile, as well as cost-effective, since it can also be left on wounds for up to seven days. Changing the dressing less frequently results in less exposure of the wound bed, thereby resulting in reduced risk of infection, and lowering hospital costs.

Vitality Medical also carries other Smith & Nephew wound care products, such as Skin Prep Protective Dressing Wipes and the Allevyn Adhesive Hydrocellular Dressing.

Product Questions

Should the silver side be applied to the wound.
Question by: Nancy Dyl on May 29, 2016 8:37:53 AM
Via the manufacturer, the application process is as follows:

Application:
Follow standard protocol to cleanse wound; do not use oil-based cleansing agents.

For heavily exudative wounds:
Remove the ACTICOAT 7 dressing from the package and cut to size.
Apply the dry ACTICOAT 7 dressing to the wound, either side down, as the exudate will be sufficient to activate the dressing.
Cover the ACTICOAT 7 dressing with an absorbent secondary dressing.
Complete the dressing with appropriate gauze wrappings if necessary.

For all other wounds:
Remove the ACTICOAT dressing from package and cut to shape.
Moisten the dressing with sterile water (do not use saline).
Allow the dressing to drain on an absorbent surface in a sterile field for at least 2 minutes.
Apply the ACTICOAT 7 dressing to the wound surface, either side down.
Cover the dressing with a moist absorbent secondary dressing which may be prepared by saturating gauze with sterile water and wringing out the excess water.
Complete the dressing with appropriate gauze wrappings if necessary.
If the dressing dries and adheres to the wound, moisten or soak the dressing prior to removal.
Avoid forceful removal of the dressing and disruption of the healing wound.

Medically the best - Acticoat 7 Day Antimicrobial Dressing – A Review
I am using the Acticoat 7 Day Antimicrobial Dressing to cover the wounds my kids manage to come up with. It is worrisome when you have to deal with the wounds in the everyday life. The only thing that keep going is the satisfaction I get when using this product as it gives complete protection against the microbes and heals the wounds sooner.
