DJ Orthopedics Procare Med/Surg Shoe (DJO 79-811 Series) provides users with recent surgeries or injuries with a stable and supportive base. The Cast Shoe is made of a comfortable mesh and foam combination to cover the foot without being too constricting. It does not contain any latex, making is safe for those who have adverse reactions to latex. The shoe is gently secured with straps that have a hook and loop closure. These straps are adjustable, which allow the shoe to give any needed space for swelling or dressings from the surgery or to care for an injury.

Procare Med Surg Cast Shoe comes in six different sizes to accommodate different users. Available in men and women’s sizes, each shoe covers approximately two full shoe sizes. If the shoe size changes due to a cast or large dressings, the ProCare Case Shoe, Unisex has different sizes based on measurements rather than shoe sizes. The MedSurg Shoe can be worn on either the right or left foot. It also provides stability with its skid resistant sole that helps keep users upright and reducing the chance of further injury. The contoured heel assists with stability as well while enhancing the comfort during the healing process.

ProCare Cast Shoe by DJ Orthopedic - SKU 79-81147
I quit wearing a square toed surgical shoe I got at Amazon in favor of this one., I switched and ordered a round toe surgical shoe I bought from Vitality Medical ) it has a rounded toe. My advice, please order two boots regardless of brand or style, because it is better to wear one on both feet (if only at home if you want) so that your gait is not totally through off due to the fact your heel heights will not match if you don't have one on both feet! I hurt my hip joint and my knee in first weeks of wearing the crappy boot from Amazon, because I did not know this fact... it is impossible to match the heel height in a street shoe for the un-injured foot. I then ordered two rounded toe surgical boots called ProCare Cast Shoe by DJ Orthopedic here. I really like it. Amazon should sell this round toe style! This new rounded toe is the style of boot that my podiatrist sent me home with last week. I was glad to find it here at Vitality Medical. I believe the rounded toe is what helped me walk with a more normal gait and not with what I call my frankenstien walk! My best advice...buy two of them! I wear an 8 to 8.5 women shoe normally and I ordered a women's medium, but could have gone larger. You want more of your toes covered and strapped down higher up on the toe so you cannot raise the toes upwards when you walk. Ok, so also, taping (and buddy tapping) is critical in healing your broken toe, please do not skip this step or not take care in doing so. If you don't tape it well and thoughtfully, it will not heal at all. Even after all your swelling is down continue to tape and to wear boot for 8-12 week, so you wont be sorry. Older people over 50 should heed this advice. Drink bone broth and eat your calcium rich food, (don't take calcium supplements se Dr. Erik Bergs videos on calcium) get sunshine for Vitamin D or cod liver oil in winter months. Oh yes, one more thing, please order a copy of your x-rays, then you will be able to better visualize the break and this helped me to tape it in a manor that applied proper pressure to the break line, using intentional taping techniques and help prevent the toe fracture from attempting to heal in a slid down position which was resulting in a shorter toe. I had no idea for 8 weeks this was my issue. Order a copy on CD of your x-ray especially if your toe is broken all the way through. I also found out by viewing my x-ray as there are bone fragments that are loose and floating around. They never tell you all the details and patients need to inform themselves. You paid for x-rays go get a copy they are free to get on CD. I also plan to get a new x-ray in a few weeks. If the tip of the toe is floppy its probably still broken. Happy healing!

Great support
I made t he decision to try the Pro Care Cast shoe to help stabilize my foot that has arthritis on the top of the foot. The doctor wanted me to wear a shoe that does not allow movement of the foot, therefore helping to reduce the pain. This does stabilize the foot, allowing me to not have to wear a larger boot. I recommend this for foot pain relief. The padding on the upper surface allows comfort. The adjustable straps help secure the correct width. I happen to have a very narrow foot, so it really helps with the fit. i purcahsed 79-81145 womens 6-8
