Guardian Connect Transmitter

Overview

The Medtronic Guardian Connect Transmitter communicates with the Guardian Sensor 3 to measure interstitial glucose levels. The transmitter attaches to the embedded sensor that is worn subcutaneously for up to seven days. The transmitter collects glucose levels that are converted to sensor glucose values and then wirelessly transmitted to the Guardian Connect Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) system. Using the included Guardian Connect app CSS7200, real-time information is always available via a smartphone. The app also provides alerts up to 60 minutes in advance when it detects glucose levels spiking or dropping. It provides trends so the user can make the appropriate insulin dose adjustments. Using a CGM eliminates regular fingersticks, but most importantly it prevents blood sugar highs and lows for better diabetes management.

It's important to note that Medtronic manufactures other transmitters that pair with the Guardian Sensor 3, but these models are designed for insulin pumps and CGM. The Guardian Connect Transmitter (Medtronic MMT-7821) is NOT compatible with insulin pumps and is the ONLY transmitter to work with the Guardian Connect CGM and app. The transmitter can be worn for up to seven days until the battery needs to be recharged. User should still perform finger testing if he or she thinks blood glucose is low.
