Lansinoh Breastfeeding Bottles with NaturalWave Nipple diminishes nipple confusion for breastfed babies so they easily interchange between breastfeeding and the bottle. Many women, especially working moms, pump breastmilk but they still desire to directly breastfeed as well. Interchanging from a bottle nipple to the mom's breast can throw off the baby whereby the baby may ultimately reject one or the other. To mitigate this issue, the Lansinoh Feeding Bottle, formerly Lansinoh mOmma Breastmilk Feeding Bottle, with NaturalWave Nipple encourages distinctive sucking motions learned at the breast.
The NaturalWave has undergone clinical trials to demonstrate the baby's natural tendencies to latch on, move the tongue, and swallow. The teat's gradual slope made of 100 percent silicone is soft and flexible to encourage stretching and natural wave-like tongue movements. This results in successful bottle feedings time and time again while mom is away. This wave-like movement has also been found to support oral, face, and jaw development.
Other important design features of the NaturalWave Nipple is its wide base with added texture that makes it easier for baby to latch-on. The nipple base has a ventilation slot called the Anti-Colic Vent (AVS), which greatly reduces air intake, leaving the baby more comfortable after feedings and reducing the risk of colic. The nipple also controls the breastmilk flow. The 8-ounce bottle comes with a 3M medium flow and the 5-ounce bottle has a 2S slower flow. The number is found on the nipple so it's easy to determine the flow when preparing the bottle.
How to Use Lansinoh Bottles
There are only three parts to the bottle. The bottle, nipple, and ring. Before the first feeding, sanitize the parts in a pot with plenty of water to ensure the parts don't touch the sides or bottom of the pot. When ready to use, insert the nipple through the ring and twist it onto the bottle. Add warm breastmilk or place the bottle in warm water to warm the contents and then feed the baby.
How to Clean Lansinoh Bottles
The bottle and nipple are both dishwasher safe on the top rack. To extend the life of the nipple, handwashing is recommended.
All of Lansinoh's bottles have a universal wide mouth to fit onto any of the Lansinoh Breast Pump Systems. This enables mom to use only one bottle to pump, store, and feed.
