Omnipod UST400 by Insulet Overview
Insulet Omnipod UST400 Diabetes Insulin PDM offers an easier way to handle the demands of diabetics. The tubeless and wireless system administers insulin through the insulin pod, which can be mounted on any regular injection site. After insertion, the pod does not need to be monitored and can be left alone for up to 72 hours. The Dash pod wirelessly connects to the Omnipod Dash System's included Personal Diabetes Manager (PDM), which fits in pockets or purses and monitors blood sugar levels and insulin injections.

Simplifying Diabetes
Omnipod UST400 consists of two parts: the Omnipod PDM and the pod. The pod is placed on the body and synced to the PDM. There are no tubes to get tangled in or caught on. Each pod provides insulin for up to 72 hours, eliminating the need for multiple daily injections. The pod monitors blood sugar levels and transmits all data to the PDM, which is small enough that it will fit into a pocket or purse. The PDM includes a bolus calculator and food library, making calculations quick and easy.
Where To Place the Pod
Omnipods and Omnipod Refills can be placed anywhere a standard insulin injection might be administered: the abdomen, leg, upper thigh, lower back, back of the arm, etc. Press the pod flat and even against the skin. Once the pod has properly adhered to the injection site, the PDM will send a prompt to begin the insertion. A needle pierces the skin and leaves behind a cannula that allows insulin to be administered. The actual insertion takes 1/200 of a second and is virtually pain-free.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Does the kit include pods?
The Insulet UST400 includes one pod.
Does the Omnipod Startup need a smartphone to function?
No. The included UST400 monitor functions without the use of a smartphone.
Can the Omnipod be used by children and adults?
Yes. Anyone of any age who has Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes can use this system.
Is the pod waterproof?
Yes, the Omnipod will function normally in water as deep as 25 feet for up to 60 minutes. The manufacturer does recommend that the pod not be worn in a hot tub since the temperature may be too high for the insulin to handle.
Is the PDM monitor waterproof?
No.
What happens when two people are wearing the same system in close proximity?
The PDM has a unique connection with the pod that is established during priming. There is no chance that the PDMs will interfere with each other or with pods not their own.
How does the Omnipod Dash system work?
The Omnipod needs to be placed at one of the possible sites. Once the pod is placed and properly adhered to the skin, the PDM will send a prompt to start. The PDM prompts the pod and inserts the cannula so insulin can be administered.
Does applying the pod hurt?
While the Omnipod is designed to be as pain-free as possible, insertion can occasionally hurt.
Does the Omnipod DASH System allow programming for a zero basal rate?
Yes, it does.
Is the pod a closed loop system?
Yes. It automatically adjusts insulin dosage over time in response to blood glucose levels.
Does the Omnipod need batteries?
No.
Do the Omnipod apps (VIEW and DISPLAY) work with Android devices?
No. At this time, only iOS is supported.
Can an expired Omnipod be used?
No. Do not use an Omnipod Dash Pod Replacement if it is past the expiration date.
