This mattress has a distinct slope at the foot of the mattress to take the pressure off the heels -- a welcome relief for those who have suffered with bed sores in the past.

The Gravity 9 has multiple layers like its predecessor, the Gravity 8 Foam Mattress, but has a steeper slope for the heels. While the Gravity 8 has a one inch declination from six to five inch thickness, the Gravity 9 starts from six down to four inches. But just like its predecessor, it has all the die cuts and layering to provide the ultimate in long-term comfort and anti-sheer properties to help prevent bed sores.

The Gravity 9 foam mattressalso has a chambered area in the foot of the mattress. These internal chambers are created from channels cut out of the material so when weight is put on the bed the chamber walls flex and distribute the weight appropriately. The foot area also has a memory foam layer to allow the heel to stabilize so it will not move too much and irritate the skin.

Lying down on the mattress is a dream. The billowy softness is cloud-like, thanks to the science behind the design. The mattress layers have a die cut pattern to optimize zone pressure redistribution so as to not put shear forces on the skin. The bottom layer of this Drive Medical Foam Mattress has grooves cut horizontally into the foam. This design feature will allow the mattress to flex and articulate and ultimately extend the product's overall life. The foam is completely enveloped by a cover. The cover material is fire retardant, fluid proof, tear-resistant, low shear, and easy to clean. On the bottom is a waterproof vinyl to protect it from fluid.
