Support where a conventional handrail may not fit
A single step or small change in floor level can present a significant challenge for someone with reduced strength, balance, or mobility. These transitional steps are common between the home and a garage, patio, mudroom, lanai, or breezeway, but they often lack a suitable handhold.
The SafetyGrip® StepAssist® provides support beside the doorway, helping users steady themselves as they navigate one or two steps. Its vertical orientation allows the user to choose a comfortable gripping height and maintain contact while stepping up or down.
A more secure and comfortable grip
The distinctive textured SafetyGrip® surface provides defined contact points for the fingers and hand. This helps users maintain their grip without needing to grasp the bar as tightly, making it particularly helpful for people with reduced hand strength, an unreliable grip, or unsteady balance.
Unlike a smooth stainless-steel bar, SafetyGrip® provides a consistent gripping surface along the usable length of the StepAssist.
Designed for doorway transitions
The StepAssist® mounts beside an existing doorway and is secured into the structural framing. Its compact design provides support without requiring the space needed for a conventional horizontal handrail.
The 20 inch SG779 model is designed for transitions involving one or two steps. For entrances with two or three steps, the 32-inch SafetyGrip® StepAssist® provides a longer gripping area.
Strong, durable construction
The StepAssist® is constructed from stainless steel for durability in indoor and sheltered transitional areas. When correctly installed into structurally sound doorway framing or wall studs, it is rated to support up to 350 lb.
AlphaSan® is incorporated into the SafetyGrip® material to help with antimicrobial protection.

Installation and safe use
The StepAssist® must be securely fastened into structurally sound doorway framing or wall studs using fasteners appropriate for the wall construction. The recommended installation height is generally 32 to 36 inches above the step, adjusted where necessary for the intended user.
The StepAssist® is intended to provide balance and support while stepping. It is not designed to support a person's entire body weight. Inspect it regularly and discontinue use if it becomes damaged, loose, or moves from its installed position.
Professional installation is recommended if the installer is uncertain about the wall construction, structural framing, or correct fasteners.
