What is peak expiratory flow (PEF)?
Peak expiratory flow is the measurement of the fastest airflow during a forceful exhalation.
Is the FPF-S1 a full spirometer?
No. This device is a peak flow meter and does not measure FEV1, FVC, or FEV6.
Can children use this device?
This meter is intended for use by ages 5 and older, but children should use it with adult supervision only.
How do I clean the mouthpiece?
The mouthpiece should be cleaned and disinfected between each use. To help prevent cross-contamination, only use one mouthpiece per person. Use the following steps to clean the mouthpiece:
- Detach the mouthpiece from the turbine.
- Place the mouthpiece in warm, soapy water. Agitate for two to three minutes.
- Rinse with purified water and shake the mouthpiece gently to remove any excess water.
- Wipe dry with a clean, soft cloth.
To disinfect the mouthpiece:
- Use a cotton pad moistened with 75% alcohol on the cleaned mouthpiece.
- Let the mouthpiece air-dry on a clean towel.
- Store the mouthpiece in a safe, dry place.
