Overview
The Filac Probe Covers are set to be used with compatible thermometers, such as the Filac 3000 by Cardinal Health. The probe covers should be used with every temperature reading and replaced after each use to eliminate spreading of infections and germs.
The Filac 3000 Probe Covers offer case quantity options of 5000 (Cardinal Health 202020), 2000 (Cardinal Health 502000), and 500 (Cardinal Health 500500) depending on how frequent the facility uses the probes -- it is best to be fully stocked than under stocked. The probe covers are made for single use with a single patient. Even if the same patient is using the probe, the cover should be replaced with a clean one and the metal probe cleaned off with a wipe, such as the WEBCOL Alcohol Prep Pads Wipes.
With a smooth surface and rigid plastic, the cover wouldn't break even if the patient were to bite down on the thermometer. The probe pack fits snugly into the isolation chamber that holds the thermometer as well. Once the probe has been used, it can be ejected into a wastebasket, or for safer disposal, into a sharps container.
