Overview

The DJ Orthopedics (formally known as DonJoy) Procare MaxTrax Air Ankle Walker is designed with all the features of a standard ankle walker but includes the added benefit of a pneumatic liner to provide compression and support to help the healing process. This walker is designed to stabilize the ankle to reduce pain and edema caused by a fracture, post-operative procedures, or trauma. The Procare Maxtrax Air Ankle Walker (DJO 79-95425) is an economical choice compared to a serial casting.

This walker features adjustable air chambers that adapt to edema changes throughout the rehab process to maximize patient compliance. It comes with an integrated pump that allows the user to easily inflate the liner for comfort and effectiveness. Using a dual aircell system, the lateral and medial air chambers are inflated to maintain limb contact and improve stability.

Can the MaxTrax Boot Be Worn During Sleep?

It is helpful for the healing process to sleep with the walking boot on, but advised to loosen the straps for optimal comfort. It can be helpful to surround the boot with pillows for additional support while sleeping. This prevents ankle displacement, which can lead to further injury.

Always consult a doctor on how long and when a walking boot can and should be worn. Some may need to wear it day and night, while others may remove it during the night or while relaxing.

Can a Sock Be Worn with the Boot?

This boot can be comfortably worn with or without a sock, depending on one's comfort and needs. It can also be combined with an ankle wrap or bandage for additional support.

How to Clean the DJO Walking Boot

Wearing a boot daily causes it to retain dirt and sweat, but cleaning the boot is easy. Remove the liner of the boot and hand wash with a mild detergent in cold water. Always hang-dry the liner, never use a dryer. The boot may also be simply cleaned with a damp cloth between deeper cleansing.
