Overview

The DJO AIRCAST SP Walker (Short Pneumatic) is designed to provide semi-pneumatic support with a rigid shell for maximum protection. It is constructed with adjustable aircells that allow you to customize the amount of compression and support to the ankle. The AIRCAST Pneumatic Walker provides effective treatment to the midfoot, forefoot, and hindfoot that are healing from injuries, such as fractures, sprains, soft-tissue injury, ligament or tendon procedures, or for post-operative care.

This Cam Walker Boot features a rocker sole that enhances comfort during movement. It provides plenty of room for a sock or dressing within a generous foot base. This walker reduces edema using pulsating pneumatic compression.

Cautions and Warnings

Patients who are experiencing loss of sensations as a result of post-op anesthesia, neuropathies, or other conditions should only use this brace with frequent monitoring to avoid skin irritation and promote wound management. This brace should be used with extra caution while walking on wet surfaces to avoid additional injury.

How to Apply the Brace

1. Prepare brace: Unfasten straps, remove front panel, and open liner.
2. Apply brace: Place the foot in the brace while in a seated position. Adjust the heel to the back of the brace and pull the liner forward to eliminate wrinkles. Wrap the liner around the foot and ankle and secure.
3. Attach the front panel and adjust the Aircast logo over the toes. Secure the lower part of the panel inside the brace and the upper part of the panel outside the brace. Secure straps, bottom to top, to fit snugly and comfortably.

How to Adjust Aircell Compression

The aircells are initially deflated for first-time use. Once the foot is adjusted in the brace, simply insert the "inflate" tip of the hand bulb and squeeze until the desired level of compression is achieved. Begin with the inside valve and then the outside valve.

To deflate the aircells, insert the "deflate" tip of the hand bulb and squeeze until the desired pressure is achieved.

*Note: High pressure is ideal for walking support, while less pressure is more comfortable while sitting or resting. Pressure can also be adjusted by tightening or loosening the brace straps.
