Formerly known as Alione® dressing, Biatain® Super Adhesive 46100 by Coloplast is effective in treating high exuding wounds including non-infected diabetic foot ulcers, leg and pressure ulcers, second degree burns, surgical wounds and more. It's Super ability to soak in exudate is from its hydrocapillary pad made of superabsorbent particles to quickly manage wound exudate and bacteria. Its fast absorption combined with its effective horizontal distribution of exudate minimizes the risk of macertion and leakage. This results in a moist wound healing environment to give patient confidence with its fast healing capability.
Above the hydrocapillary pad sits a strong and protective top film layer that allows the patient to shower without worry. It's bacteria proof and water proof layer ensures the wound bed is undisturbed. It's also semi-permeable underneath to release vapor from the wound bed to also maintain a moist wound environment. The dressing is made with or without an adhesive backing. This Biatain® Super Adhesive is easy to apply and uses gentle hydrocolloid components to be sensitive to skin. The hydrocolloid ingredients often include ingredients such as gelatin, pectin and carboxy-methylcellulose that are safe to use for healing with uninfected wounds.
Biatain® Super Adhesive dressing can remain on wound bed for up to a week resulting in added patient comfort with fewer dressing changes needed. It can stand on its own as a primary dressing and be used under compression as well making it a cost-effective wound care solution.
