Use the heat pack for pain relief and to increase blood flow and circulation to the wrist. Add the packs to a bowl of water and microwave for moist, hot therapy. For cold therapy, place packs in freezer for two to three hours. Cold therapy, also known as cryotherapy penetrates deep within the muscle to relieve pain in the tendons and ligaments. Compression and cold therapy reduce inflammation and swelling which is helpful when wrist is inflamed or recovering after surgery. Additional gel packs can be purchased which is helpful for cold therapy so you always have an ice pack in the freezer.
