Alternating inflation and deflation works to alleviate pressure from the user's body to help heal and prevent bedsores. This mattress features 19 alternating air chambers that redistribute weight, with adjustable pressure settings to customize the bed for optimal comfort. The air-filled channels decompress or fill up with air to keep weight off certain areas. With the ultra-quiet air compressor pump, users can lie in bed peacefully without being disturbed by unwanted noise. The Vive 8 Inch Alternating Pressure Mattress has a weight capacity of 350 pounds and comes with a waterproof, removable vinyl cover that is easy to clean and keeps the mattress safe.

Firmness Adjustments With the Plus and Minus Buttons. These buttons increase or decrease the user weight settings and allow the mattress firmness to be customized. A higher weight setting causes the mattress to feel firmer while a lower weight setting causes the mattress to feel softer.

Sitting Mode. This setting stops the alternating pressure in the air chambers and automatically increases the air pressure in the mattress to provide equal, firmer support so the user can sit up. The LED indicator will turn on when the mattress is in sitting mode.

Static Mode. This setting stops the mattress from alternating air pressure and causes the chambers to maintain equal pressure based on the current user weight settings. Static mode is often used during the initial inflation or during medical procedures. The LED indicator turns on when this setting is selected.

What is the cycle time?
Each alternating cycle is 10 to 20 minutes. 

How loud is the compressor pump?
A slight hum may be heard while the pressure is alternating, but overall the pump is very quiet.

Is the pump compatible with 220 volts?
No, it is only used with the standard 110 volts.

Do the cells at the head of the Vive Pressure Mattress alternate?
No, the three cells at the mattress head do not alternate. They inflate and stay static to act as a pillow. 

Does this mattress fit a hospital bed?
Yes, the Vive Pressure Pad fits regular twin and hospital bed frames. 

What sizes does the mattress come in? 
This is a twin-size mattress designed to fit a standard hospital bed frame. The dimensions of the mattress are 80 inches x 35 inches x 8 inches.

Can the mattress be bought without the pump?
No, currently the mattress and pump are sold as a set.
