Instructions for use: Ready-to-hang container
All liquid medical foods require careful handling to reduce the risk of microbial contamination. Failure to follow these instructions may cause contamination and reduce hang time.
- Use pump feeding with an 8 Fr or larger tube. Gravity feeding is not recommended.
- Administer at room temperature.
- Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before setting up the container or feeding set.
- Turn the container upside down and shake vigorously using a twisting motion for at least 10 seconds.
- Do not touch any part of the container or feeding set that comes into contact with the formula.
- When starting feeding, follow physician instructions and adjust flow rate and volume based on patient condition and tolerance.
- Meet additional fluid needs by giving water between or after feedings, or when flushing the tube.
For use with enteral feeding set:
- Remove the dust cover from the Abbott RTH Safety Screw Cap.
- Insert the safety connector into the port on the Abbott RTH Safety Screw Cap and completely pierce the foil.
- Turn the safety connector clockwise until it is securely fastened.
- Close the clamp on the set before inverting the container.
- Invert the container and suspend it using the hanging ring on the bottom.
- Unless a shorter hang time is specified by the set manufacturer, hang product for up to 48 hours.
Instructions for use: 8 oz carton
- Store unopened at room temperature and avoid extreme temperatures.
- Shake well.
- Clean the top of the container thoroughly before opening.
- Once opened, cover the unused portion, refrigerate, and use within 48 hours.
Oral feeding:
- May be used for total or supplemental nutrition at room temperature or chilled.
Tube feeding:
- Follow physician instructions.
- Adjust flow rate and volume according to patient condition and tolerance.
- Feed by pump at room temperature with an 8 Fr or larger tube. Gravity feeding is not recommended.
- Meet additional fluid requirements by giving water between or after feedings, or when flushing the tube.
- Avoid contamination during preparation and use.
