Description

What Is the Thumper Maxi Pro Professional Electric Massager?

Maxi Pro is a professional tool made for the casual user. It is used in ordinary households, massage therapy facilities, athletic training rooms, and physiotherapist offices. This massager has 8 spheres that individually cover and massage a large area, perfect for someone's back. The Thumper Pro has an adjustable pulse setting, which can change the speed from 20 to 40 pulses per second and through 4 different pressure settings. If a smaller handheld device is needed, the Thumper VMTX Single Sphere Massager might be a good choice or the Thumper Sport Percussive Massager.

What Does the Massager Do?

Thumper Maxi Pro has the ability to simulate a full-body massage in as little as 5 minutes. This product weighs 7 pounds, which is heavy enough to be able to get into those hard-to-reach deep tissue areas. Thumper Maxi Pro uses patented technology to penetrate perpendicularly into the fascial layers, relieving tension and soreness as well as relaxing the soft tissue. Maxi Pro is very easy to use, especially for therapists. Ninety-five percent of Maxi Pro's energy is transferred into the patient instead of the therapist's hands. No matter what needs massaging, this tool doesn't require any extra attachments or pieces. Most massagers out there utilize orbital action and move side to side. Thumper Maxi implements percussive action, which is more of an up-and-down movement.

How To Use a Thumper Massager

To begin, turn the Thumper Maxi Pro on and choose the desired stroke and pressure settings. Once selected, place Thumper Maxi Pro onto the desired area. Unlike other massage devices, Thumper does not need to be stroked back and forth for a deep massage. Simply apply the device to the area in need of treatment and leave it for 10-15 seconds, or until the muscle begins to feel less tense. There are two adjustable dials on this unit, one is to change the variable speed and the other is to change the impact adjuster dial. The muscle Thumper should be used on soft tissue. Using the Thumper directly on or near a bone or joint Ithaqua cause the device to absorb the kinetic energy, potentially causing the massager to operate in an unrhythmic pattern. This massage unit should not be used for longer than 20 minutes and a 20-minute rest period between sessions is recommended to allow the device to cool. Should the Thumper Maxi become to hot, it will automatically shut off until cool enough to operate again.

How Does the Massager Work?

Unlike other massagers, the Thumper was designed to apply pressure downward as opposed to an orbital motion. The 8 independent spheres can move up to 1/4", depending on the setting. Thumper Pro uses percussive movement to penetrate fascia and release tension in tight muscles.

How Can a Massage Help?

It is normal for muscles to be sore and tender after physical activity. Massage therapy has been used for about 4,700 years, dating back to ancient China. Massages have been used for thousands of years, and are a proven way to help people recover. According to a study done by the University of Chicago, the brachial artery flow-mediated dilation was increased for up to 72 hours after the treatment was done, rushing fresh blood to the tense area and helping recovery (Franklin, Ali, Robinson, Norkeviciute, Phillips 2014).

If people do not exercise they can still benefit from massage therapy as well, according to (MacMillan, 2014). It was noted that 11 volunteers in the same study did not work out and still showed increased blood flow levels.

Treatment Capabilities & Instructions

For optimal use, the user should have someone else place Thumper Maxi on them so the user can just relax. There are ways the user can self-treat themselves.

Self treatment

To treat oneself with Maxi Pro, simply just place the massager in a spot comfortable for the user and position where the spheres are in contact with the area in need of relief.

Massaging Others

When massaging others be sure to remember to not apply too much pressure. Not a lot of pressure is needed since the Thumper Maxi unit already weighs a couple of pounds. Those being massaged could potentially feel an "itching" sensation, this is related to increased blood flow and is a common feeling. Putting a cloth or sheet over the skin or massaging over clothing can minimize that feeling.

Usage Tips

  • Ensure the air vents are not covered when using, this could lead to overheating.
  • When using around thinner muscles or bony areas, lessen the puncture depth so the vibrations are not reflected back into the operator.
