The Proximel Ag is a 5-layer silver and silicone foam dressing with an adhesive border that helps protect the wound against a wide range of pathogens during healing. The five layers include a silicone wound contact layer, an antibacterial silver polyeurethrane foam layer, a nonwoven layer, a superabsorbent core, and protective backing.

The Proximel Ag Dressing has a 99.99% antimicrobial effect against a wide range of pathogens, including staph aureus, EF, strep pyrogenes, E. coli, pseudomonas aeruginosa, and klebsiella aerogenes.

This dressing offers a sustained release of silver over time, so patients can wear it for up to 7 days. The silicone adhesive is gentle on the skin and removes easily for repositioning the bandage.

What Do Each of the 5 Layers Do?

Silicone Wound Contact Layer: distributes wound exudate fast and evenly through the layer, which allows for a gentle and pain-free removal
Antibacterial Silver Polyurethane Foam: offers additional cushion and comfort to the dressing while keeping pathogens out
Nonwoven Layer: spreads the exudate fluid to distribute it more evenly within the dressing for optimal absorption
Superabsorbent Core: helps minimize the risk of wound maceration while quickly absorbing and retaining high levels of exudate
Protective Backing: has high MVTR to maintain moisture balance in the wound; is smooth, comfortable, waterproof, and acts as a bacterial barrier for further wound protection
