ProtectIV Plus Safety I.V. Catheters have a fully encased needle to give healthcare workers control for a safer application. Smiths Medical pioneered this technology giving I.V. catheters manual needle retraction to prevent accidental needlesticks. The encased design completely covers the needle throughout the procedure. In addition, its patented gasket design minimizes blood exposure during venipuncture. The needle also adds to patient comfort due to its V-point electropolished stainless steel point that transmits ultra-smooth insertions. The needle is radiopaque to be visible in x-rays.
The I.V. catheter is made of OCRILON polyurethane with a plastic hub and is designed with molded grips for additional secure handling. The push-off tab allows one-handed threading.
Properly dispose of catheter after use as it is intended for single patient use to prevent cross-contamination and other safety issues.
