The Pepper Medical Two-Piece Adult Trach-Tie helps keep tracheostomy tubes in place by securing the tube in a fixed position while also making it quick and convenient to remove the trach tube holder by unfastening the hook-and-loop (hook and loop) closure promptly. The two-piece trach tube holder makes the fastening process easier for both the caretaker and patient. This design also means trach users can put their trach ties on by themselves without any help.
If tracheostomy care is lacking, it can result in skin irritation. The Pepper Medical Two-Piece Tracheostomy Tube Holder is gentle on the skin and minimizes the chances of skin breakdown. Other trach ties may cause sweat buildup under where the tie is placed -- this is unhygienic and feels uncomfortable on the skin. The moisture-repelling material of Pepper Medical's trach tie reduces sweat moisture buildup. The Trach Tie 504 features white foam with 100% cotton laminate, which allows moisture to bead and roll off. The Trach Tie 540 has blue foam laminate with a backing that repels moisture, as well as 2.5 inches of elastic in the neckband for greater flexibility.
Quick-release hook and loop straps secure the trach tube in place while users go about their days and come undone only once they are deliberately unfastened. Since the tie collar can breed bacteria if continuously used, it is recommended that trach ties are replaced when the tracheostomy tube is replaced.
