Mesalt Wound Packing DressingOverview
Mesalt Sodium Chloride Impregnated Dressings assist with the management of heavily discharging wounds. Mesalt releases sodium chloride (common salt) when it comes into contact with the wound and encourages cleansing, especially in those wounds in the inflammatory phase. It absorbs wound exudate, bacteria, and necrotic material to facilitate the natural healing process.

Mesalt Uses
The Mesalt Dressing for hypergranulation uses sodium chloride (common salt) to absorb moisture and discharge from a wound. This salt-impregnated dressing stimulates the natural cleansing mechanism and supports healing. It keeps bacteria out of the wound bed and also helps prevent further bacterial growth. As such, it is ideal for infected wounds or those at risk of becoming infected. The Mesalt wound packing ribbon is used for cavity wounds such as ulcers, surgical wounds, or pressure sores.

Manuals and Documents
Product Brochure contains product benefits and specifications.
A moist wound environment is necessary to facilitate the healing process. Since the Mesalt dressing and Mesalt ribbon packing support cleansing and fluid absorption, they are not recommended for wounds that are not heavily draining. Try a gel or a hydrocolloid dressing instead. In addition, Mesalt should not be used when they may come into contact with exposed tendons or bones.
