The silver in the border goes into the tissue in order to contain the bacteria so it doesn't spread to other body parts. The backing is made of a polyurethane film, which is highly flexible and very difficult to tear. This allows you to keep moving while you're working, exercising or even sleeping without having to worry about the border coming off.
