Description

Medline Bulkee II Bandage Gauze Overview

Medline Bulkee II Gauze Bandageis a nonelastic knit bandage that can be used as either a primary or secondary wound dressing. Ideal for a variety of wound types, such as burns, the 100% cotton gauze bandage molds and stretches to various body types and outlines. The gauze promotes wound protection while remaining breathable and absorbent. Users can purchase the 4.5 inch x 4.1 Yards bandage individually packaged (Medline NON25865H) or in a case of 100 (Medline NON25865), or the 3.4 inch x 3.6 yards individually or in a case of 96 (Medline NON25861).

What Is a Roller Bandage?

Typically sterile, a roller bandage is a strip of fabric that comes in a roll that is used to cover wounds. In this case, the Bulkee II roller bandage is a roll made of cotton that when unrolled measures 4.1 yards. According to Mihajilo Lojpur, M.D., Ph.D., in his article "Dressing and Bandage," roller bandages are "used to cover gauze dressings" and help in "covering wounds, applying pressure, or supporting a sprain."

How To Use

Wash hands with soap and water or put on gloves. Clean the wound with water or an antiseptic-free wipe. Place a gauze or dressing pad over the wound, like the Curity Gauze Pad, and wrap the Bulkee II Sterile Cotton Gauze Bandage around the pad. If using the Bulkee II as a primary wound dressing, follow the previous steps but avoid the pad. Then tape or pin the gauze in place, if needed. Finally, check if the patient or individual has circulation where the bandage was wrapped and reapply the bandage if they experience a numbing or tingling sensation.

As a general rule, the bandage should be changed before exudate soaks through the bandage or if the wound environment has been affected, like if the gauze isn't covering part of the wound due to movement. Talk to a healthcare provider about how often the gauze should be changed.
