Each gauze is carefully packaged in order to avoid damaging the material upon opening. It also promotes a sterile environment despite the sponge being non-sterile. Folded edges keep the gauze sponge together, preventing unraveling and maintaining the integrity of the material. The 12-ply gives it more room to take in exudate, lifting and expanding the existing fluid to other layers to allow for more over a longer period of time. This means fewer changes and more money saved over the course of treatment.
Each non-sterile gauze sponge is 8 inches wide and 4 inches in length, giving users plenty of ways to cover their wounds or other dermal abrasions. These are made using cotton and do not contain any latex to avoid allergic reactions.
