Onetouch Ultra 2 Overview
OneTouch Ultra 2 is one of the most popular glucose measuring devices in the world. Why you might ask? OneTouch only needs a speck of blood, so the user is not continually pricking their fingers, it is accurate, and it is reliable. Reliability is one of the most important things, and with OneTouch, you have the ability label your results whether you are testing pre or post meal. This allows you to keep more accurate records, and help you manage your diabetes.
OneTouch Ultra 2 Meter saves records for 7, 14, and 30 days. Once obtaining your results, you may not only flag your results but you can also comment on them. Comments to choose from range to, “Not Enough Food”, “Too Much Exercise”, “Medication”, “Vacation” and so many more. From the Main Menu, in order to view your past data, you can select “Last Result”, “All Results”, or “Result Average”.
What Comes in the Box
One Touch Ultra 2 comes with batteries, so this is ready to go straight from the box. A lancing device to help with smooth and precise testing. The OneTouch Delica Plus is the lancet device that comes with the Ultra 2, and this tool has 13 depth settings to provide better control for the users at hand. Delica Plus also comes with extra fine (33G) and fine (30G) heads for ultra-smooth skin penetration.
This package also comes with 10 sterile lancets, a user guide, and a carrying case! Everything you need to start tracking your blood sugar levels.
How to Use OneTouch Ultra 2 Blood Glucose Monitoring System
The simplistic design is to make the device user-friendly, and simple to use. To turn on your device just hold down the “OK” button for a couple of seconds and it should open the main menu. Once you set your preferred language and the date, OneTouch Ultra Meter is ready to be used.
Once the device is setup, insert a test strip into the test port. Do not bend, cut, or alter the test strip in any way before use. It is recommended to use Onetouch branded test strips, and if you need replacements then OneTouch Ultra Fastdraw Test Strips are a good choice. Once the test strip is inserted, a black start-up screen should appear noting the user to “Apply Blood”. If this is the first time you are using this particular unit, then a flashing “—“ will appear on the screen. To troubleshoot this, you must simply match the code on the meter with the code on the test strip vial. Once matched, the code should flash 3 times and then it should change to read “Apply Blood”. The meter is now ready to be used for a blood glucose test.
Now that you have the meter setup and ready to go, you will need to use the Lancet in order to apply the speck of blood needed. The OneTouch Delica Plus is the recommended lancet of choice and is available on VitalityMedical.com but if you are using another Lancet, like these OneTouch Ultrasoft Lancets. To use the Delicia Plus, remove the lancing cap and insert a sterile lancet into the device. The Lancet should snap into place when it is fully seated. Put the cap back on and then adjust the depth setting to the preferred depth. Next, pull the slider back to cock the lancing device. It is possible the device already cocked when you put the cap back on. The last thing to do is to insert a test strip into the meter and puncture your finger.
When puncturing your finger, hold firmly against and release the button. Make sure a round drop of blood is formed and that it is not smeared, if smeared, squeeze finger to reproduce a droplet of blood. You do not want to use the smeared blood.
