GERi Complete Nursing Essentials Bundle

In addition to everything included in the Complete GERi Manikin, as well as an additional IV arm, this bundle includes the SimVS Essentials Virtual Assessment System. This system provides the ability to train with a standardized patient, manikin, or simulator using a monitor stand that includes a display, auto BP cuff, pulse oximeter, and thermometer, as well as a separate glucometer. The tablet control device used by the instructor can link one or more sets of equipment and control each set as a group, allowing the instructor to manage several patient profiles in real-time. This training system can support home health aid, CNA, nursing, and other medical programs. The GERi Manikin in this bundle has light skin.

GERi Nursing Med-Surg Bundle

In addition to the Complete Nursing Essentials Bundle, the GERi Nursing Med-Surg Bundle comes with a SimVS Hospital Monitor Simulation Platform. This is a platform for realistic simulation in different settings, such as hospital, pre-hospital, and respiratory therapy. This system is designed around the GERi Manikin but is also optimal for use with live patients. The instructor's tablet controls the physiological displays of three types of monitor interfaces: defibrillator, hospital monitor, and mechanical ventilator. A two-way wireless communication system allows the instructor to monitor student decisions during the simulation. The instructor can control up to 10 tablets at the same time, while checklists built into the system allow performance capture for structured debriefing. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are there replacement parts? Yes. A list of replacement parts and order information in the Instruction Manual.

How long is the blood good for? It can be stored at room temperature indefinitely.

Are these products latex-free? Nasco's Life/form products are latex-free with the exception of the unique IV tubing. The latex tubing is encapsulated in a plastic shrinkwrap application. Most of the tubing, if not all, is covered by non-latex skins.

Do the IV arms need to be flushed and drained after each use? No. The idea is not to let it sit for days on end without using it so the blood doesn't dry up in the veins. If the arm is going to be used day after day, it is OK to keep the blood in the veins without flushing for a couple of weeks.

How many times can you stick the IV arms? It depends on the gauge of needle used (the smaller the better), how many different sites are used (the more the better), and how high the synthetic blood bag is hung (the lower the better). The skin will eventually show puncture marks and some teachers do not want any visual clues to find a good injection site. Most of Nasco's IV Arms have replaceable skin and veins.

How to Clean the Manikin

Soap and water work great if there are no electronics exposed. Nasco recommends a mild dishwashing detergent, but be sure to avoid detergent made for the dishwasher. Newsprint and most inks are hard to remove if they have been in place for any length of time. Nasco Cleaner (LF09919) is a specially formulated vinyl cleaner that works well with grime, too.
