Jackson Original Tracheostomy Tube Overview

The Jackson Metal Tracheostomy Tube - Original is placed in the stoma tracheal opening for airway management. This Jackson trach includes an obturator with a smooth, rounded tip that protects the inside of the airway during insertion. The Jackson style refers to the tubes metal construction without a cuff design. A plastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tracheostomy tube is a common choice used today because of its pliable structure. However, the Teleflex stainless steel Jackson tube is available for patients who received a tracheostomy years ago and want to continue with this style. To aid the comfort, the Jackson Original Style Tracheostomy Tube gradually tapers starting from the proximal to the distal tip.

  • Inhibits Bacterial Growth

Less Infection Risk

In comparison to plastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tracheostomies, these Teleflex Jackson Original Trach Tubes are more durable and less porous than plastic tracheostomy tubes. This lessens bacterial growth and resists biofilm formation. A metal trach tube is easier to clean than PVC and sterilizes with heat or steam.1

Long-Term Use

The metal tracheostomy tube is more expensive than its PVC counterpart, but the metal holds up better and lasts longer. The stainless steel is durable and will not corrode, making it reusable for as long as it is cared for properly and not damaged.
