It features a two-part system for controlling bacteria and exudate: strong antibacterial properties and a lack of film backing so that exudate transfers to a secondary dressing. The Hydrofera Transfer Dressing maintains a moist wound environment, which allows for autolytic debridement and promotes healing.

 

This polyurethane foam dressing uses a two-part system to manage bacteria and exudate. It comes without a film backing, which increases the amount of exudate the dressing can hold. The fluid gets transferred to a secondary dressing, where it is locked in place to prevent leaks. While the fluids are being absorbed, the antibacterial properties are already working to protect the wound. The dressing contains methylene blue and gentian violet, two organic pigments that protect against a variety of microorganisms that can grow within a wound.

It turns white when the organic pigments have depleted from the dressing, indicating that it needs to be changed. 

How long can the dressing be worn before it needs to be changed?
