PleurX Drainage Starter Kit - 500/1000 mL

PleurX Drainage Starter Kits are for prescribed pleural and peritoneal malignant ascites fluid drainage through a compatible existing PleurX indwelling catheter. The system uses a vacuum drainage bottle instead of gravity. The catheter’s external tubing can be curled up and covered with an included dressing, making it discreet under clothing.

Pleural effusions occur when fluid builds up in the area surrounding the lungs, called the pleural space. Malignant ascites forms when fluid builds up inside the abdomen. If properly trained, caregivers can use these kits for draining pleural and peritoneal fluid at home.

Each kit contains the necessary instructional materials and drainage supplies, including either four 1,000 mL or 500 mL bottles. Neither kit combines 500 and 1,000 mL bottles. These are not catheter insertion kits, nor should they replace clinical instruction.
