Overview
The MedLine DeLee Mucus Trap is a device used along with suction aspirator machines or individually to catch and collect secretions, fluids, and mucus when conducting a trach culture. Properly gathered specimens can be sent off to the lab for testing in a secured and labeled container.
The DeLee Specimen Catheter Trap with Contro-Vac Valve and Plug in 8 French (DYND44108) and 10 French (DYND44110) include a ready-to-use system right out of the packaging. The collection container is leak-proof with a tight-sealing screw-on transport cap -- keeping the specimen contents inside secured and free from possible spills that could end up contaminating the specimen. The clear plastic vials make it easy to see the specimen being collected as well as the graduations marked clearly in increments of one centimeter on the collection container for accumulating the required amount of specimen in one shot.
The tubing can be used with most suction machines and can be applied universally with canisters, too. The marked indicators on the catheter help see how far the catheter has been inserted, for the safety of the patient. The sterile mucus specimen trap includes a patient label for proper record-keeping of the specimen collected. The included orange cap marks the end of the specimen collection process. Screw on the cap for finalization and send off for testing.
