ColActive Plus Ag is a fish collagen-based wound matrix dressing with alginate, CMC, EDTA, and silver chloride that converts into a soft, absorbent gel when exposed to wound fluid. It is not a standard collagen pad or silver foam but a sheet that requires an appropriate secondary dressing.
This collagen dressing uses silver chloride to reduce bacterial colonization. It does not replace infection assessment or treatment. EDTA removes zinc needed for MMP activity, while collagen provides a matrix and sacrificial substrate.
This dressing was designed for healthcare professionals managing appropriate partial- or full-thickness wounds where a collagen matrix with silver is clinically indicated. Select 2 × 2, 4 × 4, or 7 × 7 inches according to wound dimensions and required coverage. It may be trimmed and layered for appropriately assessed deeper wounds.
Warnings
Do not use ColActive Plus Ag Dressing for third-degree burns. Do not use it if there is a known sensitivity to animal-derived collagen, silver, or another dressing component. For wounds with minimal exudate, the manufacturer recommends moistening the wound bed with distilled water to begin gelling.
