Is the system compatible with male and female catheters?
As a unisex urine collection system, the BD PureWick Urine Collection System with Battery works with the PureWick Male and Female External Catheters.
How does the system work?
Using about 120 mmHg to 140 mmHg of suction, voided urine is drawn through the collector tubing into the 2,000 mL collection canister. The canister be emptied as needed, or before it reaches a volume of 1,800 mL.
Is it chargeable or battery-operated?
The system runs on a chargeable battery and is usable while charging. The battery reaches a full charge after 12 hours. Its built-in battery protection keeps it running for up to 8 hours, which ensures reliability during a power outage or if there is no power outlet around.
Where should the system be kept?
With a 6-foot tube and 12-foot electrical cord, the PureWick Urine Collection System should be stored on a nearby flat surface, such as a nightstand, table, or floor.
When should you clean and replace the accessories?
The collector and pump tubing, collection canister, and canister lid should be washed and disinfected after each use, or at a daily minimum. The canister and tubing (PWKIT03) should be replaced every 60 days, or whenever there are indications of degradation.
