The ConvaTec AQUACEL® Hydrofiber Ribbon Dressing with Strengthening Fiber is an excellent primary wound dressing specifically designed for wound packing. The ribbon construction tucks nicely into a cavity and tunneling wound. As wound exudate is absorbed into the strengthening Hydrofiber, it expands and turns into a gel to conform to the wound. Patients have found a reduction in pain when the wound cavity is packed. The ribbon's transformation also creates a moist wound environment essential to healing. The ribbon can manage moderate to highly exuding wounds to greatly reduce the risk of maceration.
When packing a wound, always leave room for the AQUACEL® Hydrofiber Ribbon to expand. Also, leave an inch of the dressing above the surface to assist with easy removal of the dressing.
