A successful swallow is one that has diverted food or liquid into the food tube (esophagus) and not into the lungs. The adaptive drinking cup provides large ergonomic handles for a more secure grip for those with tremors, grasping disabilities, and arthritis.

The nose cut-out on this cup assists the user to sip their beverage without tilting their head back. This design helps prevent aspiration (liquid entering the respiratory tubes) by keeping the respiratory tubes closed.
