Allevyn Classic Adhesive Dressing (Smith & Nephew 66020044) are foam dressings designed for use on wounds that have exudate, are infected, malignant or fungating, first and second degree burns, or even on donor and surgical sites. The five by five inch dressing has a one inch self-adhesive boarder, leaving about four by four inches of foam protection. It has a unique triple layer construction that provides the best possible environment for healing. The top layer is breathable to reduce the risk of maceration, the contact layer has an adhesive that does not stick to the wound itself and in between is a highly absorbent foam core.

Allevyn Adhesive 5 x 5 Inch Foam Dressing's self-adhesive border is designed to stick only to healthy and intact skin and does not stick to the wound, which would cause additional damage. This makes both the application and the removal a simple and fairly painless process. The three layers all work together to absorb excess liquid, keep out water and bacteria from the outside and still maintain a moist wound environment for healing. The dressing can stay in place for up to seven days, depending on the amount of exudate.

The dressing confirms to the natural curves and contours of the body. It also has the capability to cover hard to reach wounds to ensure patients are getting the treatment they need. If the flat dressing does not work, Allevyn has also created a Hydrocellular Heel Dressing or a dressing for the sacrum in varying sizes.
