ADAPTIC Non-Adhering Dressing is a primary dressing for dry to highly exuding wounds with vulnerable wound structures. Fragile tissue requires special attention, making ADAPTIC dressing an ideal choice. It is impregnated with a petrolatum emulsion to prevent the dressing from adhering and causing trauma with each dressing change. This non-adherent dressing is available in a variety of sizes but can be cut to fit the wound without shredding, which is helpful since it is placed directly over the wound. A sterile secondary dressing is necessary to secure the dressing and manage exudate if necessary. Depending upon the amount of fluid drainage, ADAPTIC Wound Dressing can remain in place for up to a week.

When the wound expels a large amount of fluid, the ADAPTIC Non-Adhesive Dressing "adapts" to the wound environment by transferring the exudate to the secondary dressing. Pooling and maceration pose risks for chronic wounds like venous ulcers and pressure injuries. ADAPTICs knitted cellulose acetate fabric is permeable to manage exudate and protect the regenerating cells.

How often do you change the dressing?
The frequency of dressing changes will depend on the amount of exudate. The manufacturer recommends leaving the dressing in place for up to seven days or changing twice a week with higher-exuding wounds.

Is ADAPTIC good for open wounds?
Yes. It is a primary wound contact layer that is gentle to open and semi-closed wounds.

Is this considered Vaseline gauze?
Vaseline is a brand name. But the structure is the same as Vaseline gauze since it is also made with petrolatum

Is acetate fabric the same as nylon?
The cellulose acetate fabric is a manufactured fiber like nylon; however, acetate is from regenerated cellulose fibers that give it a silky look and feel.
