TIELLE foam dressings are designed to help manage wounds with varying exudate levels. These foam dressings utilize LIQUALOCK technology so they can hold more liquid than other dressings. LIQUALOCK has three main parts to it that allow it to hold a large amount of liquid. First, the exudate fluid fills the hydropolymer cells. Then, the cell walls begin to absorb more fluid. Finally, the fluid is locked inside the cells. This lock even holds up under pressure and movement.
In addition to the LIQUALOCK, TIELLE dressings feature a top film that serves multiple purposes. One of those purposes is to allow air to pass through because it is breathable. As air passes through it allows the skin to breathe and create a better healing environment. The top sheet also wicks moisture away from the wound and into the hydropolymer cells. By moving the moisture away from the wound it prevents water and bacterial ingress. While this top layer is breathable, it is designed to protect the wound from external contamination while facilitating moisture vapor transfer.
Another useful feature is that these foam dressings can be safely used with compression bandaging.
