Protective boot
TCC-EZ™ Total Contact Cast System Protective boot Components of the cast system

Description

Who Uses This Product? Clinicians who apply total contact casts (TCCs) for patients who are managing challenging foot ulcers. Why They Love It? The prefabricated cast standardizes the process so that application takes 20 minutes or less. The boot is customizable to achieve the TCC required for patients to achieve wound closure in 4-6 weeks. 1

Total Contact Cast System (TCC-EZ) Overview

The TCC-EZ Total Contact Cast System effectively offloads the foot to give a diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) the protective wound environment needed to close and fully heal. Hard-to-manage wounds require the best protection to avoid further tissue damage caused by pressure forces. The TCC-EZ's Healing Chamber does just that, providing the offloading mechanics for the optimal healing environment. The customizable walker boot is lightweight to make walking and standing possible without fear of damaging the wound or cast.

  • Boot and Hard Cast Protects the Ulcer

  • Lightweight Boot With Adjustable Straps
  • Reduces Shear and Pressure Forces
  • Design Successfully Offloads the Foot

Time-Saving Design

The TCC-EZ Boot works with a prefabricated sock to make the application uncomplicated. The outer boot has an interlocking peg system on the medial and lateral strut paddles. The adjustable strap achieves a snug fit for total-contact offloading protection.

Indications

The TCC-EZ is indicated for the following wounds as long as there is adequate blood supply:

  • Non-infected diabetic foot ulcers on the plantar, mid-foot, or heel
  • Pre-ulcerative conditions
  • Postoperative foot care
  • Charcot neuroarthropathy

Healing Chamber Technology

The TCC-EZ Cast is the gold standard for healing DFUs because of the Healing Chamber with a protective boot that controls the foots range of motion.

The exterior boot maintains the ankle at 90 degrees to reduce the stride length with lower leg struts that redirect ground force pressure from the bottom of the foot.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How often do you replace the cast?
The frequency will depend on the healthcare providers assessment. The cast should be examined at least three days after the initial application.

Can I shower or bathe with the cast?
Yes. Appy a cast protector to keep the boot dry while showering or bathing.

What should I do if the cast gets wet?
Call the doctor, as it will need to be removed immediately and reapplied.

If the cast is loose or is rubbing, what do I do?
The Total Contact Cast requires a snug fit to prevent friction and shearing. If the cast is loose, it will need to be changed as soon as possible.

Is it normal to have swelling above the cast?
Yes. The swelling may be due to too much walking. Rest and elevate the leg to reduce the swelling.
