How to Crate Train a New Puppy
Purchase a crate or kennel that is only large enough for your pup to stand and turn around in. Provide a cushion or towels for them to lay on. Dogs do not want to relax in a space where they have done their business, so the size of the crate trains them to hold it until they are let out.
At night, keep your kennel near you or in your bedroom. Your puppy may need to go outside in the middle of the night and having your puppy near will alert you to when your pup needs to go outdoors.
Teach your puppy that the crate is a good place (especially during the night) by giving small/healthy treats, such as the Buddy Biscuits Crunchy Treats, when they easily go in when told to. This will teach them to understand that being in their kennel is a good place, not a punishment.
