Detecto Thermal Tape Printer - P50

The Detecto P50 thermal printer is a two-button operated printer designed for Detecto scales. The P50 tape printer has 384 dots/line and a printing speed of 1-1/2 inches per second. This Detecto thermal dot line printer (Detecto P50) also prints at a resolution of 203 dpi at a width of 1-9/10 inches. Additionally, This printer has an RS232 connection (cable included) allowing it to connect and print information from many various scales. The P50 uses 50mm thermal paper rolls and replacements are available to purchase. One scale this product can be used with is the Detecto SlimPRO.

How to Set Up

Connect the printer to the host device using the included RS232 cable. Open the transparent cover. Using the included paper in the package, inside the paper spindle into the paper roll. Unwind a small amount of the paper from the roll and feed it into the groove. Set paper inside of the printer, leaving at least 2/3 an inch of paper out from the built-in cut bar. Tighten the paper roll, leaving the 2/3-inch beyond the cut bar, then close the transparent cover. Proceed to use.

Benefits of Thermal Printing

Thermal printing works by heating the coating on specially manufactured thermochromic paper. These printers work by using small thermal print heads that heat the paper as it passes over, creating images and words. Printing in this way is much more efficient than other methods. Most notably, this process doesn't use inks or toners. This helps keep printing costs down as well by eliminating the need for allowing prints to dry before handling. Additionally, because the printing is done this way, prints are much more durable and resistant to water.
