Details

The Medtronic MiniMed 670G Insulin Pump System with SmartGuard technology mimics the function of the pancreas to continually deliver insulin for individuals with diabetes. Managing diabetes with an Insulin Pump is a desired alternative to giving multiple insulin injections per day. Many find monitoring glucose and administering injections to be tiresome and be a factor in why they can't participate in activities or have an active lifestyle. The pump takes the guess work out of it while keeping glucose levels in range to prevent highs and lows. It also frees up time and mental space so users can focus on other things. Having balanced glucose levels accounts for increased energy and well-being so you can feel your best.

The system comes complete with Guardian 3 Transmitter, Guardian Sensor 3, One-Press Serter and Contour Next Link 2.4 Glucose Meter. The included serter effectively implants the sensor subcutaneously in order to read glucose levels. It works with the 670G Pump, Guardian Link 3 Transmitter which powers and communicates with the sensor to collect data. This information is then wirelessly transmitted to the Medtronic 670g Insulin Pump every five minutes to release the amount of insulin needed.

Users are required to perform a minimum of four blood glucose tests per day to be on top of a high blood glucose reading or in case the insulin delivery is stopped. The MiniMed 670G pump features SmartGuard technology with two levels of diabetes management to pick the setting that is best for you. The first level called Manual Mode suspends insulin when the sensor reaches a preset low allowing the individual to keep insulin suspended or resume insulin delivery. The next level is Auto Mode where the user enters meal boluses or estimated carbohydrates into the Contour Next Link 2.4 meter and it then automatically calculates insulin dose. The MiniMed 670g Insulin Pump (Medtronic MMT-1780K) provides safety alarms to safeguard against insulin leaks or when insulin has lost its potency.
