Moderate to heavy exudating wounds require dressings that are able to soak up a good amount of exudate without requiring multiple dressings to lift it all. Medline's Maxorb Extra Silver Alginate Dressing is perfect for moderate to heavy exudating wounds. It's ability to help lift exudate is due to the controlled release ionic silver, which pours deep into the wound bed for better lifting of any fluid. The silver is highly absorbent and helps the dressing last up to 21 days before it needs to be changed. Thanks to the non-binding edges, swapping out a bandage for another is a breeze. Just lift, replace and you're ready for another three weeks if necessary. In order to keep the wound under control, any fluid intake will not spread laterally, helping it stay within the wound dressing itself.
Maxorb Extra Silver works well on pressure injuries including leg ulcers, first and second degree burns, moderate to heavily draining partial and full-thickness wounds and diabetic ulcers. It also performs well over surgical wounds, graft and donor sites and trauma wounds as a topical cover. It is not recommended for use on top of third-degree burns, dry or lightly draining wounds, patients with sensitivity to alginates or silver or to control heavy bleeding. Although it may be left on site for up to 21 days, changing times may differ depending on the amount of drainage.
