Massage Lotions, Creams and Oils

Although lotions, creams and oils all share the common goal to moisturize and soften the skin, each has a unique purpose for nourishing and soothing. The main difference between each is their oil to liquid ratio. Although each one varies in ingredients and additives, they are all made to soften your skin and give it a healthy glow.

The Different Uses of Oils, Lotions and Creams

  • Oils - Exactly as they sound, no liquid additives are found within massage oils. Oils tend to absorb less quickly than lotions and creams, but are something that our skin naturally produces and craves. When your skin is extra dry, it is because it is not producing enough oil, which is a great opportunity and time to use massage oils and allow them to work their skin-softening magic.
  • Creams - This is a "less greasy" alternative to oils. Massage creams are great for use in the morning after you shower or bath. They provide an effective amount of moisture without leaving you feeling as though you are getting oil on your clothing after you get dressed. Creams are also perfect for the skin in the winter when it tends become more dry and chapped from the cold weather.
  • Lotions - This is perfect for everyday repeated use. Massage lotions are lightweight and perfect for keeping your skin soft day-to-day. They are great for adding moisture to the face and hands without feeling overly thick or greasy.
  • Each one has its benefits and is perfect for everyday use or for deep-tissue massages in the home or professionally. You can easily keep your skin healthy and moisturized with oils, creams and lotions. Skin moisturizers also come in balms, gels and include pain relieving or heat additives for soothing muscles.
